Come take a tour of the El Dorado Hills Water Treatment Plant and learn how EID treats and distributes water around its vast 220 square mile service area.
Since 1925, EID has been delivering safe and reliable drinking water that our highly skilled and trained professional staff take pride in providing.
Water treatment is ever changing and has increasingly stringent regulatory requirements. EID has a very complex system that brings snow melt from the High Sierra's into reservoirs like Lake Aloha, Echo, Caples, Silver, Jenkinson and Folsom lakes. That stored water must be treated with filtration and chlorination to ensure that it's safe and meets strict water quality standards before it traverses through the system of pipelines to your home, business, or school's tap.
Two tour dates have been scheduled with space limited to 15 attendees each. If scheduled tours reach capacity the District will maintain a wait list of interested individuals wishing to participate. The District may add additional, or consolidate tours depending on interest level.
The tour is mostly outdoors and attendees should wear weather appropriate clothing. Closed toe shoes are required. Note that the tour involves walking on varied and hilly terrain that includes metal grated stairs.
Please note that for safety reasons, no children under 12 should attend the tour.
Participants who register through the website will receive an automatic email message your request to register was received. After your registration is processed, another email containing the meeting location along with additional logistics and a liability waiver will be sent. Attendees will be required to sign EID's liability waiver to participate in the tour.
