Sub-Metering

*Available to EID commercial, industrial, and institutional (CII) customers only 

MANAGE DEMAND AND REDUCE YOUR SEWER BILL. For commercial, industrial or institutional (CII) customers currently on a mixed-use water meter—both building and landscape water usage is billed through the same meter—you can apply for a landscape sub-meter. CII customers receiving EID sewer service billed by volume of water usage can benefit from reduced sewer charges. A sub-meter tracks water used for landscape irrigation so you can better manage your irrigation demand, plus this usage is subtracted from the main meter reading so you are not billed sewer charges for water used outdoors. Water Efficiency Rebates 

A rebate of up to $100 per water service account is available to EID customers on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts, for qualifying purchases made in 2023. Qualifying devices include high-efficiency toilets and clothes washers, irrigation efficiency upgrades, weather-based irrigation controllers, and hot water recirculating pumps. Download this application for details, and follow the instructions to apply for a rebate.

Save water indoors by replacing older high-volume toilets and clothes washers with water-efficient models. Save water outdoors by upgrading your irrigation system to drip, installing high-efficiency nozzles, or converting your timer to a weather-based irrigation controller. Click on this link to the Federal EPA WaterSense rating website to learn more about high-efficiency toilets and weather-based irrigation controllers. Click on this link CEE Ratings to see if the clothes washer is a Tier 2 or higher, that will qualify for a rebate.

Complimentary Devices

Complimentary low-flow faucet aerators, pre-rinse spray nozzles, showerheads, toilet tank dams or bags to reduce flush volume, and toilet flappers (3-inch) are all available for self-installation. Garden hose shut-off nozzles (hand-held, multiple spray settings) and Moisture Meters (hand-held, no batteries needed) are also available from our front desk staff in the headquarters building at 2890 Mosquito Road in Placerville.

Power Outage? Don’t Forget Your Irrigation Timer!

Have you recently experienced power outages at your home? If you have, it could mean your irrigation timer is reset to its default factory settings, which may cause your timers to go off on non-watering days or times. In addition to resetting your clocks and other electronic appliances after a power interruption, don’t forget to check your irrigation timer as well.

Complimentary publications are available in the lobby of the headquarters building at 2890 Mosquito Road, including landscape design and plant selection.

Water Wise Business Calls

EID's water efficiency staff can visit your site and provide recommendations for ways to save water and money. An interior survey would focus on providing complimentary plumbing retrofits for self-installation and fixture leak detection. An exterior survey would focus on recommendations for irrigation system improvements, including weather-based irrigation control and high-efficiency nozzles.
