Day-use Area
This delightful picnic area located on Forebay Road in Pollock Pines, California with fishing access is popular with residents of El Dorado County and visitors from afar. Forebay Reservoir/Dam—a no-body-contact reservoir—was initially created to regulate water flow to EID’s hydroelectric power generation facility, but it is also a great daytime recreation spot—perfect for picnics, bird watching, quiet walks, and fishing.
Please note: No domestic animals are allowed in the water at Forebay Reservoir, and there is no swimming or wading.
Forebay is open to the public from dawn until dusk. There are restrooms and picnic tables.
The Forebay Reservoir is part of EID's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Project 184 hydro project. Constructed in the 1920's. The Forebay dam was built in the 1920s, modifications and updates were required and construction was completed in 2020. Learn more about the project by visiting the linked webpages below.
