October 26 is El Dorado County's Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Support the Health of Our Waterways and Environment by Properly Disposing of Unused or Expired Medications

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

EID encourages its customers to take advantage of this event.

The prescription drug take-back service gives the public the opportunity to not only prevent abuse and theft of unused or outdated prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, but also to help support the health of our waterways, environment, and community. The service is free and anonymous.

Did you know? Treatment plants are not designed to remove medications from wastewater. When chemicals are disposed of in sinks and toilets they can unintentionally reach the environment.  Visit our webpage to learn more about disposing of unused or expired medications.
